The beautiful dress was created in June 2011 by wombmates Shawna Balas and Daria Balas. The twins, Shawna the designer and Daria the promoter launched thebeautifuldress.com in October 2011.Shawna, a naturally gifted designer started designing unique clothes and jewelry for spectacular movie sets, interiors and special events. Shawna with a unique fashion flare and style was born to design. Twin Daria, a naturally gifted promoter has held numerous positions in advertising, marketing, sales and promotions. The strengths of the twins is a strong foundation for a unique business.As they approached another decade, the twins started noticing the aging process - female body changes. They knew they needed to come up with a design that would make every woman look and feel beautiful.Daria asked Shawna to design her an off the shoulder top, exposing the beauty of the neck, chest and shoulders (shoulders don't wrinkle or sag...who knew?!), while covering the drooping arms and menopausal midsection. Shawna took it a step further, trumped Daria by creating "the beautiful dress". Covering what needs to be covered and exposing what needs to be exposed. Through development the dress took on a life of its own. It can be worn a multitude of ways, taking the woman from day to night from casual to evening wear. It is a woman's best friend during and through bloating-pms and menopausal moments. The beautiful dress helps a woman move through stages of pregnancy to menopause while breast feeding and looking beautiful. THE BEAUTIFUL DRESS goes travelling
The beautifuldress.com goes travelling and takes on a life of its own. My womb mate, Shawna and I decided to celebrate our 50th, 100 glorious years between us in Greece this past August. Although, we both have incredibly busy work schedules, we were able to carve out 10 days to go and celebrate. We were so excited to leave our 40s behind and enter our 50s.I packed and repacked and my daughter said to me "mom, just take all of your most favorite pieces and the new clothes your bought for your special celebration" and I did just that. I travelled in the taupe coloured beautiful dress.com and accessorized with a black body wrap and pashmina. I received many looks and compliments in the airports and on the flight because of the dress (airline stewardesses loved the dress). The dress was perfect to travel in, so comfortable, yet sexy and beautiful. We were so excited to be able to get away to celebrate our milestone together, no husbands, no kids, no family, no friends, just twins needing to bond and enjoy each other's lives. We arrivied in Greece....OOPAA! OOPAA alright, our first hour in Athens, my suitcase was stolen. "All" my favorite clothes to celebrate my 50th, gone in an instant. I was devastated, I travel frequently and this has never happened to me before. My twin felt my pain because of my body language and felt even worse than I did. She of course wished her suitcase was stolen and not mine. I felt so violated, someone had all my personal belongings, some non replaceable, (now what were they going to do with my new Lasenza garments?). Although I truly believe that F.E.A.R. is just False Emotions Appearing Real, we couldn't get the fear out of us. I said to my twin Shawna, lets not let this ruin our trip, I will go and buy a new warbrobe, who cares (deep down I cared and again felt so violated). When we settled on the beautiful island of Sifnos, readjusted from the theft and enjoyed an amazing dinner on the beach, Greek cuisine and red wine, we sighed with a relief of safety and put the theft to bed.The next morning upon waking, I quickly assessed what I had for clothes...a pair of panties, a strapless bra and the taupe beautiful dress with taupe arm gloves and a black body wrap. Hmmmm, the logic was to go and buy a whole new wardrobe, however we were on a small island with not many choices. I said, EF IT! Simple abundance was my destiny at my new age of 50. Thank you Ingid Cranton for introducing me to this wonderful philosophy of life...simple abudance. As well, I decided thebeautifuldress.com needed to be put to the true test. My twin, who is not the same size as me quickly went through her suitcase to determine what she could give me or recreate to my size. She had a brand new pair of black panties which quickly became my bikini bottom, my Lasenza strapless bra became my bikini top and the beautifuldress.com was put to the test...10 days, 10 different looks in Greece....OOPAA! The dress worked, the body glove even doubled as a sleeping bag. lol. I washed it every second night and dried it in the hot Greek sun . What I learned? How to travel light...real light!!!
